Fighting forest fires with Turkish-registered helicopters

Kamov Ka-32A11BC helicopters, which made their first flight with Turkish registration in Turkey, started firefighting operations. Kamov Ka-32A11BC helicopters, which Kaan Air added to its fleet with an investment of 50 million USD, also stand out with their heavy load carrying ability.

Kaan Air, the “exclusive” distributor of the world’s leading helicopter manufacturers, continues its operations with Kamov Ka-32A11BC helicopters, which are primarily preferred in combating forest fires. With a water carrying capacity of 5 tons, Kamov Ka-32A11BC helicopters, which will provide significant benefits in Turkey’s firefighting, can fly at a speed of 260 km/h, have a flight range of 650 kilometers, and can carry up to 3700 kg in the cabin and 5 tons as external load. At the same time, these helicopters have the ability to fly in all weather conditions, including icing conditions, with their different aerodynamic structure and propeller system.

Kaan Air is the exclusive distributor in Türkiye of the world’s leading helicopter manufacturers, Russian Helicopters and Leonardo Helicopters, and is also the Turkish Commercial Sales Representative of the US business jet manufacturer Gulfstream.

Kaan Air General Manager Kemal Süler, who stated that they will continue with solution-oriented investments, said, “Until now, our helicopters used in firefighting operations were supplied by renting from abroad. As Kaan Air, with the 3 2018 model Kamov Ka-32A11BC helicopters we added to our fleet, we have started operations in Turkey for the first time as Turkish-flagged and Turkish-registered helicopters. We believe that this investment of approximately 50 million dollars will provide a solution-oriented contribution. Of course, our primary wish is not to have to use these helicopters, but as a precaution, intervening with the most equipped helicopters in a possible fire is very important for our forests and our future. As Kaan Air, we aim to continue our investments in this regard, but we hope that our state will not withhold its support from us in this regard.”
